I’m Alyssa Wilson, a Certified Sound Healing Practitioner and the founder of Sacred Shell Healing in Maysville, North Carolina. I have been practicing sound healing for about two years, offering private sessions, couples experiences, group sound baths, trauma-informed sessions, and community events designed to support relaxation, nervous system regulation, emotional processing, and meaningful connection.
Before stepping into this work full-time, I spent five years in law enforcement, where I saw firsthand how deeply stress, trauma, grief, and chronic survival mode can affect a person’s life. My own experiences with trauma and burnout eventually led me to sound healing, and what began as part of my personal healing became the work I now feel called to share with others.
Today, Sacred Shell Healing has grown from a small, deeply personal practice into a thriving community centered business. I facilitate sound experiences in my private studio, The Turtle’s Cove, as well as at public venues, special events, retreats, and unique spaces (like the NC Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores) throughout Eastern North Carolina. My work blends sound, meditation, somatic awareness, and trauma-informed care with one goal at the center of it all: creating a place where people can slow down, feel safe enough to exhale, reconnect with themselves, and remember that healing does not have to happen alone. - Certified Sound Healing Practitioner, Certified Sylvotherapy Practitioner, Trauma-Informed Holistic Practitioner, Guided Meditation Facilitator, Intuitive Sound/Energy Cleansing Practitioner

I believe what makes me worthy of being considered Healer of the Year is that I know what it feels like to lose pieces of yourself to stress, trauma, and survival. Sacred Shell Healing was born from my decision to turn that pain into a place where others could feel safe enough to begin finding themselves, and their inner magic, again.
Before Sacred Shell Healing, I spent five years in law enforcement. I worked around crisis, trauma, grief, fear, and people experiencing some of the hardest moments of their lives. Eventually, I had to acknowledge the ways those experiences, along with my own personal trauma, had affected me too. Sound healing became one of the practices that helped me reconnect with myself when I felt disconnected from who I had been.
What began as something deeply personal became a calling.
Over the past two years, I have built Sacred Shell Healing into a community-centered practice that serves people in many different seasons of life. I work with clients navigating trauma, grief, anxiety, chronic stress, betrayal, burnout, and major life transitions, as well as people who just need an hour where nothing is being demanded of them. I offer private and couples sessions, trauma-informed sound experiences, community sound baths, workshops, and events throughout Eastern North Carolina.
Sacred Shell Healing began in the simplest way possible..... in a tent in my backyard. And because it was unorthodox (my space and my work here in rural NC), there was no guarantee that this would become anything more than a dream I deeply believed in. I started with what I had, in the space I had, and trusted that if the work was meaningful, people would find their way to it.
And they did.
From that backyard tent, my work began reaching far beyond my own property. I have facilitated sound baths regularly at the North Carolina Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores, on beaches, at outdoor markets, community gatherings, wellness events, and in spaces where many participants were experiencing sound healing for the very first time.
One of the things I am most proud of is making this work feel approachable. People do not have to share my spirituality, understand sound healing, or arrive already believing in anything. They are invited to come as they are, experience it for themselves, and decide what it means to them.
What feels especially meaningful to me is that even as Sacred Shell Healing has grown, its heart has never left my backyard.
This year, when the original home of Sacred Shell Healing was destroyed in a storm, I was faced with the possibility of losing the physical space I had worked so hard to build. I could have allowed that loss to close the chapter. Instead, I rebuilt.
I decided that if I was going to begin again, I wanted to build something with my own hands and my own heart. Alongside my dad, I took a bare 10-by-20-foot shed and slowly transformed it into something that felt unique to Sacred Shell. We built, painted, problem-solved, created, and poured countless hours into turning that shed into a magical Coastal Whimsigoth Sound Studio.... and we named it The Turtle’s Cove. Every corner of that space carries a piece of the story. Not only of Sacred Shell Healing, but of resilience, family, and what can happen when you choose to create something beautiful from what was lost.
Today, The Turtle’s Cove stands in that same backyard where this journey began. There is something profoundly full circle about that for me. What once began beneath the walls of a simple tent has become a space people intentionally travel from all over NC, and even from out of state, to enter.
Watching people walk through those doors now, knowing they are standing only steps away from where I first took a chance on this calling, is one of the most humbling parts of everything I have built. It reminds me that meaningful work does not have to begin with a perfect building, a large budget, or a grand opportunity. Sometimes it begins with a tent, a backyard, a few instruments, and enough belief to start.
