About The Contestant: Bonny Parlee (Emerson College, B.S. Theater, ‘90) has always remembered using the properties of sound as a means of healing. Starting as a flute player at the age of ten, she taught herself tenor saxophone, piano, and other various percussive instruments during high school. She continued to express her love of music beyond the high school level and into her adult life through singing as a member of various church choirs and community musical theater productions. For the past 35 years, she has been teaching grades K-8 in musical theater, coaching voice, and educating all ages on the principles of public speaking. She believes that her work in theater has given her the opportunity to teach mindfulness skills, which has led her into a harmonious exploration of sound healing.

Bonny completed training at Life Changing Energy (accredited through The Complementary Medical Association) and is a certified Expert Level Sound Healing Practitioner in Crystal Sound Bowls, Tuning Forks, chimes, crystal pyramids and Tibetan Sound Bowls. Bonny is a Certified Teaching Facillitator for Life Changing Energy. In addition, she is also a certified Reiki Master Level Practitioner, Aroma Reiki Master, Crystal Reiki Master and a certified Crystal and Chakra Healer. Bonny is a Certified Meditation Teacher and Drum Circle Facilitator. Bonny is a DoTerra Wellness Advocate. To enhance her other certified practices, Bonny actively combines many of these modalities into her Sound Healing sessions.

Sound healing is based on vibrational frequencies, which work on a cellular level to induce a meditative state and activate the body’s natural desire to improve internal sensation and mental wellness. Another primary benefit of vibrational sound healing is that it soothes the nervous system, enabling the body to move into a state of balance, serenity, and nirvana.

After being diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome in 2019, a connective tissue disorder that influences chronic pain and fatigue, Bonny has learned that healing others is the truest channel of self-healing.

What makes you the healer of the year?: As I have been following my Sound Healing Journey this year I have made some big changes. I am no longer teacher theater in the schools, but I have moved to Sound healing Full time. I have been going into many Eldercare facilities and I’m now at over 10 facilities each month and looking to expand to more. I have been grant writing to be able to give low cost sound healing to the communities of Central Massachusetts. I am currently working with a Death Doula to create a grief cafe. We are looking to use meditation, Reiki and Aroma therapy to allow the participants relax and be able to have open non-judgmental conversations about grief and death. It is my goal to be able to offer sound healing programs to the community and make these natural modalities accessible to all ages.
